Description:
Be selective when picking which activities go onto your resume - only put those that align with potential employers’ interests. In this video, Harrison Barnes says that employers do not need to know about your volunteer work; this is due to many reasons such as:
- Volunteering can have adverse effects on your employment status, such as making it seem like you couldn’t get a job.
- Many people want their resumes to stand out, so they include every activity they’ve ever done- this often results in an unorganized mess with little substance.
- Be selective when picking which activities go onto your resume - only put those that align with potential employers’ interests.
- Volunteering can make you look bad on your resume if it doesn’t match your career goals.

And let's see here this particular one, let me make sure it's not underlining.
So this is again, this is someone that, put their bar stuff on top. So the bar stuff on top always comes. You can see that a lot. When the law school. So I would just put down your bar number, just put down, you're a member of the the bar. And it, not that you're a member of this district court this is a 2009 graduate.
So I would put this down towards the bottom. And then this person's been working for the permanent families since 2014, which is great. I'd like to publish cases. I would probably put that in others. I would before that they worked at this firm, they were and then summer of 2010, they were a volunteer attorney.
I think that's okay. I don't need to know if you need to say you're a volunteer attorney. I would look into that. A volunteer just means you couldn't get a job, which is okay. That, wasn't a great market back then either. But I would be careful about that. And then you wrote an associate locked clerk.
So this is good. This is a good resume and you were in the peace Corps. I liked that taking this stuff off I would recommend doing that and otherwise, yeah, this is a great resume. I like I think there's a lot of good things about this particular resume.
