Why It's Not Recommended To Tell Your Boss That You're Leaving

That's a very good question. I like this question.
And, the answer to that question is, I would say, no. I think if you're thinking of leaving a legal position, I think that you need to be very careful about saying anything to your boss about that. The reason that is, if you say you're going to leave, or you say you're thinking about leaving then the odds are very good that they know that you will probably leave and they will start thinking about replacing you and may start giving you other types of work and so forth.
The other thing that people do is they say, oh, I'm loyal. When people say things like that, those are often the people that are most likely to leave. I don't know why that is, but if you tell your boss, you're thinking of leaving just keep in mind that, no matter who you think you are it's a very large market.
Most people are replaceable and you need to realize that any type of time you indicate that you're probably hurting yourself, not if you are going to leave, there's nothing wrong with telling your boss that nor if you're going to leave, but saying you're thinking about leaving is not a good idea because [00:01:00] you are creating a roadblock to you being there in the long run.
Anytime someone has ever threatened me to leave, they've always left usually in very short order.
That the saying I was going to talk about a second ago, is there was this guy in LA that was this billionaire, I don't know who he was and no one knew who he was and he kept this list of 25 rules that he believed that made him a billionaire or something.
And on one of those 25 rules was a whole, I would NEVER rehire anyone. And what that means is, the second someone leaves they're going to leave again. Anytime I've ever rehired someone that's left they've always left again. Whatever it was, they were unhappy about the first time will be unhappy again. So you just need to be very careful about rehiring people. But telling people you're thinking about leaving, cause they will believe that you actually will leave in the future.
