How To Find Patent Department Jobs That Fit You
[00:00:00] Can you please talk about some large size in-house patent department jobs?
There's a bunch of different things I think about with patent. Whether it's Amazon, Microsoft, or Apple, all have in-house patent departments. They'll also have patent departments, attorneys, that do outside. Most technology companies and most biotech companies will have their own patent departments. One example I gave was Amgen, which is literally down the street from where I work. And they have a huge patent department that does biotech.
So, the way to find those patent department jobs is apply to the firm or write to someone that seems like they do the work you do, and ask if they have any openings. Or, call them and connect with them on LinkedIn. So most big companies do have especially technology biotech will have patent related work. They don't always advertise their jobs. So, you can often just find them by contacting them. And, if you have related experience, you're often going to be in good shape.
So I don't think it's too difficult to find in house patent jobs, I think and if that's what you want to do, but you need to have the type of experience doing the type of work they do. [00:01:00] The best way to find an in-house patent job would often be to ask yourself, what kind of work are you doing? Then see, does the firm have experience? What companies do that kind of work? It's usually not too hard to get a position.
