Why Moving Down to a Smaller Law Firm Gets You Substantive Work
[00:00:00] I've been doing document review for 10 years. Is it okay to create an attachment with my assignments and transition to more substantive general practice? My assignments cover a wide variety of practices.
Yes, of course it is. And, this goes for everyone on the call. If anytime you're doing work, like if you're doing document review, you might be doing document review at one of the biggest firms in the country. That doesn't mean you can't ever do substantive work. Just move to a smaller firm.
I've heard document review attorneys, like all proud that they're working at this giant firm, but there's no reason you have do all your document work at a giant firm when you could be doing more substantive work and other areas.
So, that's what I would do. Anytime you want to move up in terms of your responsibility, you just need to move down in terms of the prestige level of the firm or often the size of the market. And, anyone that's unhappy doing work that you're doing, just move to a different market or or a smaller firm.
There's just a lot of opportunity out there. So, don't allow people to push you in one direction if you're not happy.
