Why a PhD Might Hinder Your Carrer as a Lawyer
[00:00:00] Is a PhD in law a good idea at 30 if I want to continue as a lawyer afterwards? What do law firms think when hiring a lawyer who worked in academia for three years? Would a PhD be hindering my career for that?
Yes. I do think a PhD would hinder your career, it's counterintuitive.
The problem with PhD is it's motivated by academia and so forth. And certain firms don't like it if you do a clerkship. I don't think a PhD would probably be the best thing for you. It's just a different thinking process.
There's nothing wrong academia, if that's what you want to do. But 30 and you want a PhD is probably not your best idea.
