Okay, so one of the problems with leaving the practice of law is that most law firms will assume that you will do it again. That's precisely what happens almost all the time when lawyers hire people that have left the practice of law, and those people come back; they leave very quickly. If you think about it, you probably will too.
Why is that? I don't know. But whatever was motivating you to leave in the first place, everything will stay the same if you join a prestigious law firm. Again, you'll still be upset with the hours, the pressure, etc. So how do you get into a more prestigious firm? What do you do? You do your best to get a job in a smaller market with big firms, and you go to the most prominent firm you can in that market doing your practice area.
Or you go to a firm in a big market that's smaller, and you get the best job you can in that practice area, and you work very hard, do a good job, show a lot of potentials, and then you move back in.
