The Ruthlessness of the Legal Profession: Key Aspects
I could answer this all day. But the biggest thing I would say is lawyers are not friendly to each other. Often in their firms and externally. It can be isolating, sitting in an office, working all day hours, business pressure, working in good versus bad firms, prestige, and many different things.
One of the examples I'd like to give is of a lawyer working in litigation. So if you work in litigation, your bosses are the court, your client, other attorneys, and the opposing counsel. It's tough because you have to please a lot of people. That's stressful; that's a lot of pressure for anyone to handle. Litigation, by the way; I have a profound respect for litigators. But it's very, very difficult for attorneys when they don't have any work.
